Left Akoroa for Arthurs Pass late yesterday afternoon and drove for a couple of hours to a place called Springfield. Back of beyond! But it served a purpose, which was to drive the more scenic part of the route fresh this morning. Good decision. Got up to glorious sunshine and game on! Very beautiful drive indeed. Landed in Arthurs Pass early pm, sorted somewhere to sleep and did a shortish walk. Not the best. Hopefully that will be tomorrow, weather pending, to Avalanche Peak.
