From Hawkes Lookout I went to Marahau, the start of the AT Track and walked to Stilwell Bay, taking in Coquille and Apple Tree Bays on the way. All very beautiful. The first section of the AT track is the most popular day walk in NZ so I never left until 4 pm to try to avoid the traffic. Good move! Couple of pics attached.
Will move to Takaka tomorrow, which is deeper into the AT National Park, a day earlier than planned as I feel I'm done here. Have earmarked what I believe to be some good stuff out of Takaka!
