Good ferry crossing and the journey along the Queen Charlotte sound on the run into Picton was quite spectacular. Staying in a little place called Waikawa Bay about 4 k from Picton. A small holiday reasort I guess. Very pleasant. Managed a short walk to what's called the Queen Charlotte Viewpoint late yesterday afternoon. Better views from the boat comming up the sound really. Will spend an hour in the picton museum this am before looking for a wine tasting pm. Then maybe another short walk. Will move into the Queen Charlotte Track area tomorrow for some more serious tramping.
