Left Auckland on the 8th December travelling north to the Bay of Islands. About 4.5 hours by bus. It was like driving through the Lake District most of the way, only the majority of hills were forested. Quite stunning. But then again so were most of my experiences in the area. Based myself in a very pretty coastal town called Piahia. Accommodation just about acceptable.
